Laser Skin Resurfacing

Laser skin resurfacing, commonly called a laser peel, removes the outer, often damaged layer of skin for a smoother, younger look. Laser resurfacing can reduce the appearance of sun damage, wrinkles, fine lines, uneven pigmentation and superficial scarring, usually on the face. The procedure can take anywhere from a few minutes to two hours depending on the size and severity of the area being treated and whether it is combined with other procedures such as eyelid surgery for even more dramatic results.

Laser Hair Removal

Whether for hygienic or cosmetic reasons, the patient who is tired of temporary, often painful methods of removing unwanted hair may welcome laser and intense pulsed light hair removal with relief.

Lasers produce highly focused, intense beams of light that are absorbed by dark pigments in the hair follicles beneath the skin's surface and converted to heat, destroying the follicles and preventing hair growth for up to two years. Multiple treatments are required for complete hair removal -- the follicle must be "active" at the time of treatment, and not all follicles are active at the same time. Treatments are needle-free and do not require anesthesia. Most patients feel nothing more than a slight sting like the snap of a rubber band.

Laser Tattoo Removal

Many people have second thoughts about their tattoos. Fortunately, you don't have to live with your decision forever. Highly precise lasers can lighten or remove your tattoo by focusing or pulsing light on the ink particles, which then convert the energy to heat and break up into tiny pieces that are absorbed harmlessly by the body. All this can be accomplished without damaging the surrounding tissue. Results can generally be seen within a few weeks, although larger and darker tattoos may require more treatments than smaller, lighter ones. Occasionally treated skin will look whiter (paler) than the skin around it, but this is usually temporary and fades in the months following treatment.

Vbeam Pulsed Dye Laser System

The Vbeam pulsed dye laser system is designed to safely treat a multitude of vascular skin conditions. The Vbeam is a non-ablative laser that produces an intense but gentle burst of light that selectively destroys the blood vessels of your vascular lesion(s), without damaging the surrounding skin and tissue.

Thermage™ is a quick, easy and non-invasive alternative to a face lift. Photodynamic Therapy

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) uses light and a light-sensitive dye to treat active acne. It is also being tested for the treatment of bacterial infection and skin conditions such as psoriasis. During the procedure, a photosensitized dye or drug is applied to the problem area, which is then exposed to pulses of a narrow-wavelength beam of laser light. The dye absorbs this light and produces an active form of oxygen that aids in shrinking oil glands and temporarily reducing oil production. PDT ensures high precision by targeting only the tissue in and near the treatment area.

Combination Treatments

Dr. Anna Guanche specializes in combination treatments. One favorite is the VBJ-Vbeam and Jessner's peel. The laser addresses fine lines (nonablative rejuvenation by inducing collagen healing factors) and tiny broken blood vessels that can marr the complexion. The peel addresses surface dullness of the skin, brown spots or melasma. Together the treatments work synergistically to produce beautiful results!

Another favorite is the Restylane®-BOTOX® combo. This is a mini-makeover! The upper face is smoother with a more pleasant and serene appearance, while the youthful volume in the lower face is restored.
