Cosmetic surgery can not only change your appearance but can also boost your self-confidence and help you look as young as you feel. Whether you want to rejuvenate puffy and tired-looking eyes, smooth wrinkles and tighten sagging skin, or remove excess fat, the wide array of procedures available at our office can help you achieve the appearance you desire.
Blepharoplasty can rejuvenate puffy, sagging or tired-looking eyes by removing excess fat, skin and muscle from the upper and lower eyelids. It may be performed for cosmetic reasons or to improve sight by lifting droopy eyelids out of the patient's field of vision. The procedure is usually performed in an office with local anesthesia in as little as 45 minutes. Blepharoplasty can be combined with a facelift or BOTOX® treatments to raise the eyebrows or reduce the appearance of wrinkles, crow's feet or dark circles under the eyes.
Tumescent liposuction is a vast improvement over traditional liposuction. Dr. Anna Guanche "inflates" the patient's fat with a diluted local anesthetic before she vacuums it out in a process called suction aspiration. This eliminates risks associated with the general anesthesia used in traditional liposuction.
Another major advantage of the anesthesia used in the tumescent procedure is that it practically eliminates blood loss by constricting (tightening) blood vessels. In traditional liposuction, no such agents are used, with patients sometimes experiencing significant bleeding and even needing blood transfusions.
Tumescent liposculpture also allows the patient to remain awake during the procedure and able to assist the surgeon in gauging the completeness and evenness of fat removal. The patient can actually sit or stand and make side-to-side comparisons. Try that using general anesthesia!
An alternative for some patients to the traditional facelift is the "S-Lift" or "weekend facelift." Named for the S-shaped incision hidden in front of the ear, the S-Lift provides an overall lift to the lower third of a patient's face and cheeks. Compared to a facelift it is a quicker operation with a shorter recovery, allowing patients to get back to normal life sooner.
The S-Lift may be combined with liposculpting, where excess fat is removed from the cheeks, chin and neck, and the skin and underlying tissues are tightened. Then the incision is closed using fine sutures to minimize scars.
Also called micro-lipoinjection or fat transplantation, autologous fat transfer involves the removal and relocation of the patient's own body fat to plump up an area that has lost volume as a result of surgery, injury, aging or another cause. Fat is removed through liposuction, often from the abdomen, buttocks or thighs. It is then processed and injected into the area being treated. Both sites are numbed with local anesthesia.
The procedure is commonly used for breast augmentation and wrinkle and crease reduction. Because the transplanted fat comes from the patient, it does not carry a risk of allergic reaction or rejection. Other advantages include a short recovery time, long-lasting results and effectiveness on any skin type.
