Does your body resist ideal contours despite a healthy diet and regular exercise? Do you suffer from stubborn cellulite, leaving areas of your skin dimpled and sagging? If your answer is "yes," VelaShape™ may be the solution for you. VelaShape is a revolutionary new medical treatment for the unsightly cellulite that affects more than 80% of women over the age of 20. It's the only non-surgical device approved by the FDA for body shaping and cellulite reduction.
Using patented Circumferential Reduction® techniques and elosTM technology, VelaShape™ combines radio frequency waves, a laser, and suctioning massage to effectively reduce the size of fat cells and re-contour the skin's surface with no downtime. It can help you achieve the body you enjoyed before bearing children or losing weight, without undergoing surgery. The result is a smoother, more regular appearance and general reduction in the size of the treated area.
The VelaShape procedure can be used to treat:
- Love handles
- Upper Arms
- Bra lines
- Double chins
Candidates for VelaShape
VelaShape is effective for any patients with dimpled skin, cellulite or localized areas of fat that are resistant to diet and exercise. This procedure is considered safe for most patients and is effective on all skin types and colors with the exception of extremely loose skin. We will help you decide whether or not this procedure is right for you after physical exam and evaluation of your skin, cellulite, diet and exercise habits.
During the VelaShape procedure, the device is moved over the targeted area to suction and lift tissues. There are two different applicators available, known as VSmooth and VContour, to target large or small body areas for optimum treatment. Bipolar radiofrequency energy is then delivered to reduce fat cell volume and tighten the skin and create a smoother and slimmer appearance.
Most people report the VelaShape procedure as being quite comfortable, with a heated sensation similar to that of a deep tissue massage. Each treatment session usually lasts up to 40 minutes, depending on the number and location of areas being treated. Each individual area is usually not treated for more than 10 minutes.
Results of VelaShape
After treatment, some patients may experience mild bruising or redness in the treated area, although these side effects usually subside within a few days. The heated sensation experienced during the procedure may continue for a few hours as well. The treated skin will often feel tighter after even the first treatment session.
Most patients can usually notice visible results after four treatment sessions performed one week apart, although it is recommended to undergo six to eight sessions over the course of six to eight weeks for maximum results. Within this short period of time, many patients can go down a whole pant size and notice a slimmer and smoother appearance of the treated area. These results often help patients feel younger and more confident about their appearance.
Patients can help maintain the results of the VelaShape procedure by eating healthy and exercising regularly after treatment. Routine follow-up treatments are recommended in order to maintain the treated area with newly reduced cellulite.
Risks of VelaShape
While the VelaShape procedure is considered safe and causes little to no side effects, there are certain risks associated with any type of treatment. Some of these risks may include burns from the laser and excessive bruising, both of which are most often seen on patients with extremely loose skin. VelaShape is considered safer than traditional liposuction.
