Ananda Fidani, MPAP, PA-C, is a sunny Southern California native. She completed her Bachelors Degree of Science in microbiology, immunology, and molecular genetics from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). After graduation, Ananda decided that she wanted to pursue a career in medicine and began volunteer internships at UCLA medical center and LAC+USC county hospital. She became a licensed phlebotomist and began working in dermatology where she fell in love with it. After 3000+ hours of dermatology experience, Ananda was granted acceptance into the University of Southern California (USC) Keck School of Medicine Primary Care Physician Assistant program in 2009.
While Ananda was learning to become a Physician Assistant at USC, she had the opportunity to be trained by numerous specialists and surgeons in all realms of medicine during her 1800+ hours of clinical rotations. She assisted with cardiothoracic and ENT surgeries at LAC+USC county hospital and performed many procedures on patients at the Olympia Medical Center emergency room department. Ananda also worked as part of a cardiology team at Coast plaza Medical Center and part of an obstetrics team in Valencia. Even though Ananda was exposed to many realms of medicine during her schooling, she felt that ultimately her heart was still in dermatology.
After 33 months of rigorous training and after obtaining a Masters degree of Physician Assistant Practice, Ananda found herself thrilled when she accepted a position working for Anna D. Guanche, M.D, here at the Bella Skin institute. As Dr. Guanche’s physician assistant, Ananda and Dr. Guanche work together as a team to provide high quality care to all of their patients. Ananda obtained her national certification from the National Committee for the Certification of Physician Assistants after passing her boards. She was then licensed by the Physician Assistant Committee of the Medical Board of California.
Ananda is a member of the California Association of Physician Assistants and also the American Academy of Physician Assistants. She was awarded the National Physician Assistant Foundation Scholarship during her first year of PA school. Ananda lives in Thousand Oaks with her husband, her two dogs, and her young daughter (who is always covered head-to-toe in sunscreen).
Alexa Herzig, MHS, PA-C was born and raised in Southern California. She received her Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience at The University of California, Santa Cruz. After graduation, she worked as a Clinical Medical Assistant in a busy dermatology office, where she found her love and passion for dermatology. After 2000+ hours working in dermatology, she got accepted into the Physician Assistant program at The University of California, Davis.
In addition to her rigorous PA training, Alexa also interned with several online dermatology platforms where she wrote and produced weekly educational dermatology content to be published online for both the general public and medical professionals. This opportunity provided her with further insight on various dermatological conditions, traditional and non-traditional treatment options, as well as physiological and environmental factors that can impact the skin.
After graduating from PA school, Alexa joined Bella Skin Institute in October of 2019. She is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and has an active Physician Assistant license in the state of California. As a dermatology PA, she diagnoses and treats routine dermatologic disorders, performs skin cancer screenings and in-office procedures, such as biopsies, excisions, and cryosurgery. To continue her dermatology education and training, she is currently working on completing the Diplomate Fellowship by The Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants.
She believes that by empowering her patients to be proactive participants in their skin care and make healthy choices in their everyday lives, they can achieve overall wellness and healthy glowing skin!
